Just Gorgeous!!
Review Submitted: August 25, 2012 Date of Stay: August 2012
My husband, son (15) and I recently stayed in this unit and it was so beautiful and spacious. The unit along with the views was spectacular. Would highly recommend this unit to anyone. Barb was a gem too. She met us in the lobby and showed us up to the unit and then was sweet enough to stick around and give suggestions of places to eat. I think her husband was wondering where she was, but she was very professional about it all. Everything that we needed was provided and especially liked the fact that chairs, towels, etc. were provided for beach use too. The huge lanai was great too. If I had to find anything to complain about it would be that the ice maker didn't make much ice. (So if that's all there is to complain about.....not bad at all ;)) Wish we were back there now!!!! Aloha and mahalo Barb!!!

Barb was very helpful & prompt with my many questions before we arrived & once we got there, too. She was readily available to help us in any way and had many suggestions to make our stay there exactly what we wanted. The condo was very clean & modern and had all we needed. They do provide paper towels, dish & hand soap, towels, laundry detergent/bounce and had a nicely stocked kitchen. The location is great & with a little research, we enjoyed going a little north and found plenty to do going south, too. Ziplining was a favorite & right up the road (Skyline Eco Adventures), as was parasailing right from Kaanapali Beach (UFO Parasailing). Lahaina is a fun little town with tons of shops & we saw our best sunset from there. The lanai is very large with a nice, big table, but unfortunately, it was too windy to spend much time out there. I found mornings to be quite peaceful. The corner location is ideal to see the gorgeous beach views as well as the mountains & I got an incredible picture of an entire rainbow right behind us on the mountain. We were a family of 5 & the kids all decided to be together in the 2nd bedroom but they had a blast doing it. Lots of fun! We stopped at Costco & Kmart on the way in from the airport (you go right by them) & stocked up on things we'd need for the 9 days & with a couple of quick trips to Safeway (about 7 minutes away), we were set. The pool areas are great & the slide was fun, even for adults. We did use the common BBQ & the guys seem to enjoy having "man time" down there. Overall, it was a lovely time & we look forward to going back!

"Great condo in a fabulous resort"

Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our time in this condo at Honua Kai. The resort itself is fabulous - lovely lobby with lots of amenities, Dukes is great, and our kids love the pools (and the water slides!). The board walk is great. We love the "hotel" feel but prefer the independence of the condos. We slept 2 kids in one room and our third on the sofa bed. We took the master suite. There is lots of space in the condo for the kids to move around in. Nice kitchen too. When friends came for a visit, we comfortably seated 10 for dinner and had room to move. The 2 big bathrooms are fantastic. The deck is huge - we saw whales and rainbows. We loved seeing the clouds roll in over the mountains for the short, refreshing afternoon rain. If is definitely nice being on the top floor. We weren't bothered by any traffic noise. Honua Kai is walking distance to the grocery store and ice cream and we enjoyed a couple of evenings in Whaler's Village for the free Hula Shows, a bit of shopping and .. more ice cream. Barb was welcoming and attentive. Sincere thanks for sending home the clothes that were left behind!

"A perfect relaxing vacation!"

5/5
When Barb first walked us in to the suite, we were in awe. The pictures don't do it justice. A gorgeous place with a large lanai overlooking the ocean and courtyard. A peaceful and breathtaking place to enjoy a cup of tea each morning. Barb was extremely helpful and available at all times, when needed. The staff at the resort were all very friendly and welcoming. The pools were clean with plenty of room to lounge. And the short walk to the ocean was perfect to watch the waves roll in. A vacation we will remember and look forward to doing again!

"At Home In Paradise"
5/5
We stayed in this lovely condo for 10 days and wished would could have stayed longer! The moment we walked in the door and could see the green mountians from on direction and the blue ocean from the other..we were in vacation/relax mode. The condo is roomy, even with 6 in the group. It was clean and well kept. I also appreciated that fact that we were the top condo, so no noise from people above us. Barbara was very attentive to our needs. When the air condition went out for 3 nights, she brought fans to try to help make the place more comfortable. The resort was great. Pools were large and had alot of people in them but didn't seem crowded. Dukes was a great place to have a meal. The beach was wonderful. There is a reef 20 feet off the beach, so we snorkeled alot. I feel that this condo has a great location. We sat everyday on the balcony and saw whales jumping in the ocean. You can also see the beautiful mountains with the rainbows. Many of the condos don't have both views. The only draw back of location is that you can hear street traffic when the doors are open and the tradewinds pick up in the afternoon so you have to shut the glass doors for a little while. I would stay here again. It was a great...beautiful location with comforts of home.

Breathtaking Views!
Guest: Gabrielle (Silicon Valley, California) Date of Stay: 07/28/11 Review Submitted: 08/05/11
The pictures of this place looked great, but when we met with Barbara down in the lobby, chatted and followed her up to see it, we were SOOO impressed! Simply stunning! All those doors that open up!! She showed us around and explained that the Bosch washer/dryer take a little longer than regular washers-which we tried a few loads and was no problem. And the closet full of outdoor stuff was great-blow-up beach mattress, some mats to sit on, sand toys for the little ones, 2 Tommy Bahama chairs (with a little place on the back to put cool items) and a boogie board. The place was very clean and seeing the beautiful granite with the Bosch dishwasher, stove and fridge, we knew there was no skimping. We cooked a couple of meals in the kitchen and everything we needed was right there-Boy did I have a gorgeous view while cooking!!Also there were implements for the bbq grill down at the beautiful pool side. The furniture was very nice Pottery Barn looking and comfortable. The HD flatscreen tvs in the main room and in each bedroom were a great touch-we watched a few movies in the DVD player in the main Living room. The bathrooms had a bottle of hand soap, blow dryer, shampoo and a bar of soap. That was great! Huge tub and a separate shower with a ledge to put stuff on. Barbara was just a phone call away if we needed anything. Time Market is near and Snorkel Bob's is in the same shopping center. Across the street and down a little is Ono Kau Kau Mixed Plate- a local mom and pop Chinese and Local food--great for Kalua pork, 2 scoops rice and macaroni salad. Musubi was great, too! Onolicious! The only thing we didn't like was that we had to leave!! We would definitely come back to 836 again.

Amazing and Spectacular views!!
Guest: Gabrielle (Silicon Valley, California) Date of Stay: 07/28/11 Review Submitted: 08/05/11
Barbara kindly met us in the lobby-she was so nice and explained things to us. We spoke a bit, then headed to the elevator- up we went, and then headed down the corridor. As she put the key in the slot and opened the door to the corner unit, our jaws dropped. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! The view of the kitchen with the stainless steel Bosch appliances, the under mounted sink and the immaculate granite countertops were gorgeous. Our eyes swept around and saw the stunning views through the accordion style glass doors that opened up to the huge lanai. Upon stepping outside, the views were spectacular. It felt like a dream! The ocean to our left and the mountains to our right. Huge expanses of grass below. We cooked a couple of nights, and didn't mind doing so-kitchen was well equipped. Did a few loads of laundry-plan on it taking a little more time than usual for the Bosch washer and dryer (Barbara let us know and it was no problem). What a fantastic place to stay with children. It felt like home :) For the beach, in one of the front closets, were mats, a boogie board, sand toys, blow-up pool mattress and 2 Tommy Bahama beach chairs ~that have an insulated pocket on the back. The pools and all the hot tubs were great! The children had a blast on the slide (so did we, the adults) and the shallow pool with coarse sand on the bottom was so relaxing. A vacation could easily be spent here! To best explain the furnishings here would be to say it's 'Pottery Barn in Maui'. Great color scheme and it wasn't kitschy at all. Very easy to live in and enjoy. If you are going to travel that far, you may as well stay at the best place. You may not want to come back home! Time market is close for groceries, Snorkel Bob's is in that same shopping center and across the street and up a little is Ono Kau Kau Mixed Plate-Chinese and Local mom and pop restaurant-we took it to go and it was great.

Absolutely PERFECT!
Guest: Stacy (Houston, TX) Date of Stay: 06/15/11 Review Submitted: 07/01/11
Our family of four stayed in this unit - Honua Kai no. 836 - in June of 2011. We loved every minute of our time there. The property is gorgeous and still sparkling new. Barbara, the owner, greeted us when we arrived, and brought us to the condo. . When we walked into the unit our teenagers grinned from ear to ear. After Barbara left, our teens said the place was amazing (and we have stayed in nice vacation homes, cottages, and condos in the past). The condo was very clean, very spacious, and had top of the line appliances. The owners had boogie boards, beach chairs, beach towels and mats for us to take to the beach. There is a small stackable washer/dryer, so we were able to catch up on our laundry. The kitchen had all of the pots and pans we needed for cooking, and it had dish soap, salt/pepper, napkins, paper towels, and other extras for our convenience. There was even soap for the laundry machine. The lanai was amazing, with views of the beach and the mountains - depending on which way you looked. The condo's full-length windows could accordian back so the entire unit could open out to the lanai. I was able to photograph rainbows on the mountainside of the lanai, and sunsets by the ocean. There is a grocery store very close by, which was very convenient. Across from the grocery store is an L&L Hawaiian Barbecue restaurant (quasi fast food). Our boys LOVED L&L Hawaiian BBQ. The Paradise Pizza was also good and right next to the grocery store. Also, Dukes Grill is on the property. We only ate breakfast there, but it was delicous. The property right on Kaanapali beach and a walking path connects it to the resorts nearby (Sheraton, Hyatt, Royal Lahaina). The grounds are very nice with beautiful pools, hot tubs, and even several BBQ grills for grilling your own meat. There is a nice workout facility, and the condo has a gourmet deli that looked amazing, but a little pricey. We opted for making our sandwiches for lunch and dining out for dinner. The pictures do not exaggerate. If anything, they don't do it justice! We were so thankful we chose this unit. I was hesitant at first because there were no reviews. However, everything was simply perfect. I hope this review answers some questions others may have as there aren't any reviews to date. Thank you, Barbara and Walt! If we are ever blessed enough to take another trip to Maui - we will definitely stay there again.
