We stayed here with our two daughters (ages 5 & 8) and had an amazing time. The condo looked just like the photos and the property was better than we imagined. We have stayed in other condos and this is one of the nicer and newer ones we've rented. Everything we needed was in the unit (towels. dishes, etc.); we only had to buy groceries. There was even a guidebook to use while there. We especially like the way the lania completely opens up and we had it open most of the time. We looked at other condos at the Honua Kai and were happiest with the view of this unit. The property manager went out of here way to make us feel welcome and she made sure all of our needs were taken care of. She was great! We also like how the property was towards the end of the beach condos, so traffic wasn't bad. There was also a grocery store and gear rental shop across the street. The underground parking was also a plus. We definitely hope to stay this property and in this unit again.

We just got back from our 10 night stay at Honua Kai last week and we're all still basking in the afterglow of a fabulous vacation. The accommodations were simply outstanding. The view from the lanai is something we'll remember for the rest of our lives. Everything in the condo was top notch from the appliances to the bed and bath setups. The restaurant (Dukes) and market (A'INA) are located steps from your door and really served up some great dishes or snacks. When we come back to Maui, we'll definitely be coming back to the Honua Kai.

Stunning Condo/Property & Great Vacation!
Review Submitted: July 29, 2012 Date of Stay: July 2012
Beautiful condo & property in a great location. Extremely clean & well maintained with lots of space. Barb was very helpful. We were concerned after reading some of the reviews about the smell from the treatment plant across from the property, but after staying there 8 nights we only smelled it one time when arriving at property. We could never smell it from the condo, pool, beach, or anywhere else on the property. It may have helped that this is an inside unit? Some reviewers mentioned wind being a problem for them, but we did not experience this.
Beautiful ocean/pool view. The only down side for us was the coral reef on the beach/property which left limited area for swimming without stepping on coral. It was great for snorkling & if you used boogie boards or noodles, etc. you can float over top of the coral. That is the only reason we gave this a "good" rating rather than "excellent".

Great Condo on an Exceptional Property
Review Submitted: July 9, 2012 Date of Stay: June 2012
Honua Kai is just a few years old and well maintained. It's on the north end of Kaanapali beach, perhaps a little quieter than south of Black Rock (that's a plus), but is connected to the south end by a great walking/jogging pathway. It appears the units were sold fully furnished at a very high standard (so no tired wicker chairs in sight). The unit is big--great for families or two couples to share--and has a really nice ocean view. The owners were even kind enough to leave boogie boards and beach chairs; seriously just bring your bathing suit! Barb was easy to work with and we would not hesitate to rent this place again.

Great two bedroom condo with a spectacular view
Left on 07/10/2012 for a stay in June 2012
Stayed June 9 - 19, 2012. Condo was great. The view was spectacular. Barb was great to work with and met us at the condo when we arrived. Condo came with beach chairs, boogie boards, and fully loaded kitchen. Second bedroom's king size bed was split into two twin beds for the kids. Room was very quiet. We would definitely stay here again.

This was my 5th trip to Maui and this condo was far superior to anywhere I've ever stayed. The location, the amenities, food - all among the best I've had in Hawaii. The fact that this condo had two king suites made it perfect for couples traveling together and with them on opposite sides of the condo, we had plenty of privacy. Barb and her management team went above and beyond in answering our questions and addressing our needs during our stay. We like it so much, we're booked for November!

We had great service from Barb. The condo was very nicely decorated. Top of the line appliances. The Tommy Bahama beach chairs was an added plus. There were beautiful sunset views from the lanai. Whale watching from the lanai was a favorite thing to do every morning. We loved the fact the the wall of windows opened up and made the great room much bigger. The grocery store was a short walk away. There is a small market in the lobby area that was very convenient. We used the Viking Bbq's down by the pools which were very nice. We had a great time!

We have been to Maui numerous times and my husband and I both agreed, we really liked this location and this beautiful property. The condo has a stunning view which is thoroughly enjoyed with the floor to ceiling sliding door windows fully open. It feels like your whole living room is a patio! It was a perfect set up for our family with the second bedroom and was beautifully furnished and cared for. The grounds are lovely with many blooming flowers and great pools which are heated. The pools are nice for young children as they were not overly deep. The beach was much less crowded than Kaanapali near Whalers Village, which was nice. Overall, we had a great stay and Barb was very accomodating.

Since 2004, we have stayed in several 2 bedroom rental homes and condos in Maui. This condo is hands-down our favorite. Where to begin? The owners, Barb & Walt, are amazing and gracious, easy to contact, and responsive. Barb met us when we arrived and made us feel at home. The unit is beautiful: clean, contemporary furnishings, comfortable beds (the queen bed in the 2nd bedroom can be split into twin beds), and spacious bathrooms. We ate breakfast and lunch on the lanai - the kitchen is beautiful to look at, and practical to use. Having a washer/dryer in the unit was a huge bonus. We were impressed with the window wall (nana doors) - when opened the living area was totally open to the lanai. We noticed, that even with families/children nearby, this unit was very quiet. Duke's restaurant is on the property with excellent meals, Hula Pie, and great islander music in the evening. If you want to grill your own steaks or fish, you will find grills available near the pools. It's an easy walk past the pools to the uncrowded beach for play and snorkeling (outstanding fish watching here), and there are showers by the beach to rinse the sand off your feet and beach chairs. The Honua Kai complex is just a couple of years old with beautiful grounds and amenities. The staff are friendly and helpful. This is not a froo-froo place, with towel-toting staffers hovering over you...it's first class without all the distracting fuss...it's peaceful. Gated parking is underneath the complex. You can take the beach walk to Whaler's Village (about a 35 min. walk along the beach), or drive there in just minutes. There is a deli market on site with a short order counter, sandwiches, fruit, beverages, etc., and there is a grocery store across the street, just north of the complex. Summary: we will be renting this unit the next time we go to Maui.

We enjoyed staying at your condo! Thank you, Barb, for being so kind and your helpfulness. You truly are a caring owner. Your condo was awesome! It was clean, comfortable, well located, and well equipped. Thank you for answering all our questions and meeting with us onsite. It was very reassuring to have an owner living there in Maui, just in case there was a problem. The complex is new and offers every luxury.....there are 3 pools, Duke's restaurant, fitness center, towel service, and a walking path. We felt we had made a wonderful choice in staying at Honua Kai. This was our 7th trip to Maui and was one of our best! Thanks again, Sharon and John

I stayed in this condo with my wife and 2 kids in May 2011 and could not have been happier! This condo is as far forward as you can get on the interior of the courtyard on the north side and the views to Lanai are absolutely spectacular. The place is just gorgeous and clean as a whistle! The woman that greeted us and checked us in, Barb is absolutely terrific. She helped us with local things to do, called us while we were there to make sure we didn't need anything and could not have been nicer. We LOVED Barb! We cannot wait to return to Honua Kai and will not even consider another condo to stay in. Thanks again Barb, see you next year!

I can't believe no one has reviewed this condo before. It is very comfortable, exceptionally well equipped, and exceeded our expectations. If only I lived closer- I'd be there often. Thanks for your hospitality, Barb! We love your place!!
